After putting my title for this post, I'm thinking I should have said, "eating less!" but that's for another post :). So, I have been looking for ways to save money for example our bathroom project. Even though it's going to take longer by having Sipa and Danny doing it but in the long run we will save some serious money (because they work graveyard and try to find time during the day to do it). The other thing that I have been working on is eating out less. Most evenings I come home from work and I just don't feel like cooking and it's much easier to just run to Wendy's, L&L, chinese food, or 5 Bucks Pizza and just grab something real quick for dinner. But every month as I review and do our budgetting, I am just amazed at how much we spent on eating out. So this time I try cooking what we usually get when we eat out. I looked up some easy recipes online and got some awesome recipes from my sisters and I went to work.
My first attempt was pizza. Malik was so excited to help since he absolutely loves pizza. Our first one didn't really turn out because I added too much water when I made my dough but we still ate it and the second one was much better.
My second attempt was on Rhubarb pie. One of the sisters in my ward made it for a Relief Society's dinner few weeks ago and I have been craving this so I got the recipe and made it. It turned out good but I definitely need more practice on making the base.
The third thing I tried to cook was the chinese orange chicken. It was supposed to take half an hour but it took me an hour an a half to make it and I didn't have all the ingredients. And I was surprised that it turned out pretty good. Even Danny and Malik liked it and I even had leftovers for lunch the next day. This is a dish I'm definitely going to make again when I have all the ingredients. Love it!
My next one will have to be the L&L chicken kutsu but I haven't gotten a recipe yet. So if you have it and you are reading this, please email me the recipe @ sanftyvix@hotmail.com.

All looks SO yummy! I want that orange chicken recipe! :)
It really is amazing how fast money is spent on eating out. Saia and I have talked about this SO many times. We know that we could save SO much by not eating out. I just need to cook, even when I don't feel like it. ;)
dido. we spend waaayyy to much money on eating out. and its such a waste of money. good job on your new recipes, the food does look fabulous!! we should all get together and come up with a bunch of good recipes so that we have new things to cook for our husbands!! =))
We struggle with wasting $$ on eating out as well. I'm still trying to find the time and energy to tackle cooking. I don't know why it's so hard for me to just prepare a little and actually make a meal! I'm impressed with your rhubarb pie! It (and the pizza and chicken) look delicious.
