A sick Child is no fun

At 4 o'clock this morning I woke up to find Malik vomiting on my chest. Quite surprised by this, I jumped up and turned on the light and then Malik threw up again. I picked him up and he threw up again on me. My first thought was what I fed him before he fell asleep. I remembered feeding him bread, whole milk, and baby food. My thought immediately pinpointed the whole milk. I felt horrible and didn't know what to do. This time, Malik continued to throw up one after another. I tried to change him but by his 5th outfit I gave up and left him with his diaper on. Danny was at work and I didn't know what to do. Pretty soon, I ran out of sheets for our bed. Malik continued to throw up for at least 45 minutes so I called Danny at work. That was a challenge. As a Nestle rule, you cannot have your cell phone on you when you are working. And, because it was after hours, I had to go through the Nestle security and informed them that it was an emergency call because other wise, they wouldn't have Danny come to the phone. After being on the phone for about 10 minutes an older man came on the phone asking me what the emergency? I was getting frustrated at this point and wanted to scream at him. But I hold back my emotion and repeated that I really wanted to speak with my husband because we have a very sick child. He asked me for my name, and for Danny's full name, what department he works for, what shift, his team lead, etc. Oh, I was ready to explode because I had been on the phone for 15 minutes and was holding a sick child who was still throwing up. I started to inform the older man that I didn't have the time for all his questions and I only needed to speak with my husband. He didn't let me go that easy, he told me that it's a company policy which just made me furious. But the worst part was the last name. He wanted me to spell it out for him (I didn't blame him) so I did which took forever and then he finally gave up and said okay, I would page him and he would call you at home. I was like after all that and you could have paged him? What a _____(no I wasn't thinking that). Danny called me about 5 seconds after that and I told him that Malik was sick and in no time he was home. Malik slept for an hour or so then woke up vomiting.

At 8 o'clock, we called the doctor's office and made at appointment for 10 o'clock. We got to the doctor's office right on time and they took us right back to one of the rooms and we waited there for an hour. Danny was getting irritated with the wait while Malik and I played and explored everything in the room.
After an hour, the doctor showed up. After explaining to the doctor what's wrong with Malik he looked at us and smiled and told us that it's stomach flu and it's a common disease with kids. He informed us that its very contagious and it could have been from food, drink, or a person. It was a relief to me to know that it wasn't because I fed him whole milk or may be a little :). But it was still sad because our little baby, Malik was sick and there is no medicine for it. You basically just have to let it run its course and you just make sure they stay hydrated.

I think the only fun part with the whole doctor visit was playing in the room and taking couple pictures of my sick little baby.

You can see how sad my little baby was... :(

Sick babies are no fun! Glad to hear it's just the flu and not allergies- we had that with Kennedy and had 3 MONTHS of vomiting several times a day...and I despise calling security- it's the biggest pain, with that being a total understatement! Years ago one of Sipa'a buddy's wife was IN LABOR and they still wouldn't connect she had to keep calling and calling before they would give him the message

Awww, it really is sad when they're sick and there's nothing you can do! When Spencer just turned one, he had what the doctors called a "virus." His was the opposite of throwing up, though--he had diarhea! :( And like Malik's case, there was nothing we could do but keep him hydrated and pray for him. :) He lost so much weight during that time. I hope Malik doesn't lose too much of his cute chubbies!

Hi! I know this is completely random....but I am one of Danny's friends from High School.. Hey, Dan! I found your blog through a friends, (yes, I am a total blog stalker) and I just wanted to tell you how beautiful your son is! He looks just like you Danny! As for your wife, she is beautiful as well, and the most amazing mother, I love her letters to him! Its crazy seeing everyone all "grown up" with their little families! Anyways just wanted to say hi! :)

That is so sad. Poor little BUbBA Buddha. He is getting cuter and cuter everyday. I love his new little suit. It's like a mini missionary. By the way, I am a loser with checking me e-mail and I totally got the announcement about his birthday a little too late. We have a present for him though. Mayvbe it'll be Christmas by the time I actually get it to you guys. hahaha. Can you believe that he is one already?
