I was so happy that my parents stayed with us for a month well, almost a month. It was different at first but both Danny and I became to love having both them around the house. For those of you who didn't know my dad got in a very bad car wreck last year on Buba's birthday. His friend, the driver passed away and my dad was hospitalized for a month. So having them around was a miracle of itself.
Everyday, my mom would cook us Tongan food and the house was always clean. The other thing was that Danny had a long break from doing the dishes and he was able to sleep during the day while my parents watch Malik. I really enjoyed it because my parents were able to get to know Malik and I absolutely love it that we get to go to the gym everyday the whole time they were here.
Every night I would stay up late talking stories with my mom. If you didn't know, I left Tonga right after high school to attend BYU-Hawaii and left straight from Hawaii on my mission. It was a total of about 4 years before I saw them after my mission. They came up from Tonga to see me after my mission. I had about two days with them before I had to go back to BYU-Hawaii for school. I saw them again when I graduated and when they came up for my wedding. So, I hadn't really seen them that much and to have them staying with us for a month was just great. I would stay up with my mom just talking. I would ask her how I grew up and how she raised all 9 kids. We would talk stories about how I was in high school and all sorts of stuff. It was just fun! Several nights we would stay up till 3 or 4 in the morning. I would go to work at 7am so tired from the night before but would repeat it the next night.
To be honest when they told me that they are going back I was sad. Malik had grown to love them and love being with them and knowing that I would miss all the good food that she cooks like Lu, keke, kapisi, faikakai, etc. But I know they will be back. Hopefully, the next time they come is not for another funeral.
The other great thing that happened while they were staying with us was that Danny got to know them. They met Danny when they came up for our wedding. So it was great to see them getting along so well.
The other thing that I have to mentioned here was how thankful I was for great families. Vai Hafoka (auntie) and her husband Tevita would come almost everyday to bring food for my parents and to take them around visiting different places. Isa and her familes also brought food several times. And,Danny's families made food for my parents and take them around to Tongan dances and to different stores. I am so thankful for grea families and my parents really appreciated that. Thank You!
My parents flew out today and we were so sad. My parents cried at the airport because they didn't want to leave Malik.

What a beautiful post vika! I can't believe you've only been able to see them so little times since HIGH school!! wow. you are so strong. what a blessing to have grandma in the house huh. bubba's so lucky. . . and you guys seem to be pretty lucky to with all the lu, keke, faikakai etc. lol!
Awwww, Vika, that must have been so nice to have them here for a month! Grandparents make the best babysitters because you can leave your child w/them as long as you want and not worry about the child or the babysitters. :)
It's always hardest when you have to say goodbye. I'm glad you guys got to spend so much time w/them, though.
