Danny’s Birthday

Danny turned 26 on February 8th. I am not really good at planning birthday parties, surprise activities, or any things like that but I do try really hard to come up with something fun, cheap, and nice for Danny's birthday. Danny and I are really different. I don't like to spend and he does. Well, he tells me that it's okay to spend on special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries, vacations, etc. I say you shouldn't spend period. He loves to shop especially brand names clothes, shoes, watches, and stuff like that and I would just be happy if I go to D.I or garage sales.

So knowing that Danny would appreciate if I spend more than $10, my planning started about a month ago. I called up the Roof and made reservation for us to go eat there on the 7th since the 8th is a Sunday. For a month, I kept this as a secret. Danny had no idea I planned this. He kept asking what we would be doing on his birthday and I told him it's none of his business. I told him several times that we aren't doing anything because his birthday falls on a Sunday. So Saturday, February 7th, I told him to wear his suit because we are going out with friends to a formal place. We all dressed up and drove up to SLC. On the way up, both Danny and Malik fell asleep at the back so they had no idea where we were going.

They woke up just in time for us to pull into the underground parking and then I told him that we are taking him to the Roof for his birthday. Oh, you should have seen his face. He got all excited and had a big smile and told me to hurry up before we were late (we were 2 hrs early).

The view from the Roof was breathtaking. They put us to the temple side and in a very secluded area of the restaurant. Our table was beautiful and it had a big sign that says, "Happy Birthday from the Roof" on it. We had a great view of the temple. It was so gorgeous! We got there around 4ish and our reservation was at 5pm. The sun has just set and the colors were amazing especially how the sun set behind the temple.
It wasn't too long then the temple was lid up. It was just perfect. I told Danny that this was money well spent. He told me that he would record that and played it to me every time we have a "crucial conversation" about expenses.

This was the first time I go out and eat and felt as if I am in the temple. I just felt at peace and reverent as if I am in the temple. I guess it's because of the view but seriously, to eat and surrounded by the 2 people that I care and love the most in the world and to watch the SLC Temple.

It was just very special to me. I could honestly say that I was fed spiritually and physically at the same time. The food was amazing especially the dessert. We stayed there for a very long time before we finally decided to leave.
The other plan was for us to go shopping at the Gateway mall but we were too full to walk around so we headed straight home.

We had a great time. I am just glad that Danny really enjoyed his birthday and Malik and I ate so much. We love you birthday boy!
