10th month Letter

Dear Son,

Another month had passed and you have developed in so many ways. I actually don't know where to start but I will try. This letter is a bit late but I won't stand a chance of missing your birthday letter. Your dad and I decided to take you on our 1st Family Vacation to Hawaii. I have to say you were so good on the plane. At first, I was a little nervous since this would be your first time flying on the plane but you did so great. During our long flight from San Francisco to Hawaii, I kept praying that we would make it there safely and we did. It was great to be able to take you to the Island and enjoy it with you. Your 10th month birthday was actually on the last day of our vacation in Hawaii. We flew back home to Utah Sunday night (Sept 10th, 2008). And, because of that we didn't have a cake or a party :( for you or something special. But you really enjoyed Hawaii so much. You love the beach and love to swim and I don't think you enjoyed the sand as much. You make funny face expressions when your feet touch the sand but you absolutely love the water. Your favourite part was tipping your index finger into the ocean and put it straight in your mouth and start sucking it. When I catch you I would hold your fingers so you wouldn't do it then you give me a tight hug and start sucking on my shoulder. You are just too smart for me and your dad. But we laugh and enjoy your little personality.

You have developed a great love for food :). You are eating about 2 baby bottles of food per eating plus breast milk. You cry when you are hungry and when I am slow at scooping up the spoon. Your dad and I joke about how we have to both get two jobs just to buy your food. At night you sleep so well. You are still taking 2 or 3 naps during the day which your dad is really thankful for. You are crawling fast now and you are into everything at our apartment especially wires, drawers, under the table. I have tried to teach you, NO. You don't like it when I say, NO. Everytime, I say NO, you would look at me, look away and start making your sad little face and start to cry. I usually give in and come over and pick you up and give you a big hug and a kiss and tell you why I said NO, and apologize to you. I know it's too early for you to understand NO but I figure you will eventually get it. You love to hold on to things as you try to push yourself up. You haven't really attemp to walk yet but I know you are close because you are so strong. You are bigger than most kids in your age group. You love to throw things around the house. And, you love to play with me and your dad after work. Your azcema is getting so good and I am so happy for that.

When we were in Hawaii, we stayed with my companion from the mission, Rachael, and her husband, Walter Aitu. They have a baby girl name Akata. She is about a month younger than you. You really ejoy playing with her. We would joke around that she is your girlfriend :).

One thing that you really love to do now is pulling my hair. You had never done this before but you love to pull my hair especially to get my attention or to wake me up in the morning. You still sleep with me on our big bed but I love having you so close to me at night. You are such a happy baby and you laugh and smile all the time. I just love it when I get to hold you so tight and have you cuddle with me. Sometimes, I wish I am a stay-at-home mom so I get to have you all day and all night. Your dad tells me all the time that I can quit working but I love working and just helping out with the bills.

Son, I want you to know that I love you so much and I'm always grateful that you are in our family and I am so proud to call you a son. You are special in my heart. I love the hugs and kisses you give me. I tell you all the time how much I love you. I hope you know how much your dad and I just love having you in our home. You bring so much joy into our lives. We express our gratitude to our Heavenly Father for having you everytime we pray. We will never want anything to hurt you. I want to thank you for wanting to come down to us. I love you and I want you to know that.

I love you so much,
from your mom
Vika
